Do what you want cuz a pirate is free!

One more class and then the week is over! Phew!

Meanwhile, here's an awesome animation (mildly inappropriate but very funny):

I'm thinking that Friday Feature might have to be postponed for a while, and I'll just post random videos as I find them.

Now that freaking pirate song is stuck in my head.

College begins again!

Hi guys!

Just wanted to let you know that I am back at MIAD for my junior year, and updates to this blog may be sporadic. But this year we're learning all sorts of fun things, like 3D animation!

Well, classes start in a few hours, so I'd better get ready. Catch you all later!

Topolate Light Boxes

aokgsdigjd it's so pretty I want the one with the camera.

The question is, this or a Cintiq? Can't afford either of them, but I'm thinking for the future, which one I would pick first. Admittedly a Cintiq wouldn't do me much good for my laptop but. Hmmm.

Taaaaake oonnnnnn meeeee~

I keep hearing this song on the radio and it made me want to watch the music video again.

And hey, it's a rotoscope!

Also the Literal Version, which unfortunately cuts back to the derpy guy before it's done but is still awesome.

Derp derp derp.

Oh it's soooooo bad and the lip syncing is awful but I love it.

I would have embedded that video, but I... y'know... can't. :| YouTube :||||

Nothing important to say.

I just drew naughty things.

Preparing for college all this week, so probably no art. I'll try for a Friday Feature but it probably will be a one-shot video or something simple like that.

However, I may have had a great idea for my senior thesis. I will have to investigate it further. I will keep you all posted.

Sketchdump: Observations

I really dislike how Blogger uploads photos in the wrong order Dx Aw well. Here's some more observational stuff from this summer.

A woman on the bus.

Ladies at Barnes and Noble. I have no idea why that lady was wearing a full-length winter coat in the middle of summer. >_> She must be from a warm climate out of town.

Took Miss Hazel for a walk down at Minnehaha Park and it was Swedish Day, so there were tons of people around.

More from that day. I want to do sketches like this more often.

We went to Dairy Queen (well, I went in and I tied Hazel outside and she screamed and got pet by nice people) and this happened while I was waiting for my Blizzard. I dunno, there was something about that exchange that made me want to draw it later.

There's a dog that goes to the dog daycare who has the weirdest proportions! She's so freaking cute though. So that's her, up top there. And then there's a man-lady from the Steve Wilkos show.

Old stuff.

Also old, when we were preparing to do our quad walks for animation class.

Out for now.

(his blog)

What can I possibly say about this guy. He is effing brilliant. First found out about him... I don't even know when, someone linked me to Baman Piderman and I just about died.

There are three more episodes of Baman Piderman, they're pretty hilarious, so check them out.

But what really won me over was this:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SO COOL. It looks like it was all done straight-ahead, too.

Also this eight-minute short film of super epic awesome proportions:

Like, I'm not even going to write an actual review for this guy. He's just effing crazy and awesome and that's all you need to know. Go find his blog and look at his awesome 10-minute animation exercises (which I really should do myself *sob*).

Shit's awesome.

Ok. That's all for today.

Little babies!

Working on poses and stuff. Also drawing characters that I haven't drawn in years. C: I'm ridiculously proud of all of them (especially Trane (top right) and Mimic (right below him)). LOL Spud's got a creeper face~

I dunno what to name the collie :\

Expect more!

Observations in Blue Moon Cafe

Mini-skechdump! (How many sketches qualify a dump?)

I met up with a few of my friends in Blue Moon Cafe a while ago and we had very intellectual discussions. Well, they discussed while I drew them discussing.

Jennica! She is writing a paper about something very interesting, I'm sure.

Edward. He's craaazy.

Shannon, poses, and Laura (also drawing).

Laura, some guy that looked like Hugh Laurie, and Jennica.

Holy cow I am getting bad about updating DDDx NONETHELESS!

These guys are fairly well-known already, so I won't get into too much detail about them. Honestly, I haven't watched all of their videos (probably because most of them are political and I'm not intensely interested in politics) but the ones I have seen I've been very impressed by.

The first one I saw was back in '04 on... god, I think it was The Tonight Show or something.

Then I sort of forgot about them for a few years, until this spring when Sam Drake (one of my animation teachers) used them as an example while we were rigging characters in AfterEffects. He showed us the following video:

And I was just utterly blown away with the animation (especially McCain's and Obama's solos, wooooow). It's amazing to think that such an accessible program like AfterEffects can create something like this. (And amazing to see the improvement in the span of four years!!) I definitely intend to look through the rest of their stuff, and hopefully it'll inspire me to do some AfterEffects work myself!

Tune in next time!

Weird Al - CNR

I feel bad for not posting for about a week, so here's a quick feature of a video I happened across the other day.

I'll be featuring JibJab tomorrow, but here's a sneak peak at their new video, and it is rockin'.

Be back soon!

OFF-TOPIC - Pepper

My dear old dog Pepper passed today. He was diagnosed with bone cancer back in April and had been doing really well, but his health and will to live went steadily downhill for the past two days. We knew it was time.

He will be missed. It's definitely weird having only two dogs in the house.
