Birthday Gift - Rasmus

Whoooaaa art!

Made a little birthday drawing for my friend Vekke. She has the coolest animal characters, including this guy, Rasmus. :) I used the textured brush again, and I LOOOVE it! I think it gives my lines a lot more of a personality. I also may have solved my "boring white background" problem too! Yay patterns!

Well, back to making pixel art (which is also a lot of fun)!

My Earliest Work

I can't believe I haven't posted this yet!!

My dear friend Ashley contacted me a while ago to make a contribution to her blog "My Earliest Work", which takes artists' earliest works and compares them with a new, updated version of the work. Although it isn't technically my earliest work, I decided to reimagine a character lineup drawing of a concept I was obsessed with as a kid - my original story idea "Kieto and the Valley of Secrets". It's kind of amazing to see the progress made over 11 years, huh!

You can read more about K.A.T.V.O.S at the "My Earliest Work" page, as well as check out some other cool posts from other talented artists!

Thanks for looking!

Pokemon - Johto Starters

Oh snap, we got Pokemon again! I did these on my break from working on the graphic novel.

Tried experimenting with a new brush this time around. I really like using the hard round brush in Photoshop, and I found one that was similar but had a slight texture to it. I rather like it!

Until next time!

Final Christmas Invitation

My final Christmas invitation for class. I may go back and edit it further for my portfolio - during critique I rather liked the suggestion that I should print the text directly on the decorative swirling paper, perhaps in a silver foil.

I really enjoyed this project because I'd never experimented with different kinds of paper before. I think I'm going to keep experimenting and making more stationery products.

Next up is a children's bedding project! Looking forward to it!

Process Post - Christmas Invitation

In an attempt to start blogging more (especially with works-in-progress), I bring you a process post!

For my Illustration for Product Design class, we're currently in the process of making mock-ups of a stationery product of our choice. I chose to do Christmas (because I love love LOVE holiday stuff) party invitation. I went to Archiver's yesterday and found some really gorgeous paper (I'm in love with the semi-opaque swirls paper) which I am pairing with a navy cardstock and a small origami dove as a 3D element.

Not sure what else I want to do with it at the moment, so I am going to think on it a couple of days and see if inspiration strikes!

My German Shepherd, Axel, observed the proceedings with a calm vigilance. Isn't he a handsome boy!!

Haha, sorry you all had to deal with a Christmas-themed post on the 4th of July. Hope you all have a safe one, and for goodness sakes, STAY COOL!

That's all for now! Until next time!
